Sports Hall: Manchester Grammar School

The new sports hall was constructed following the destruction of the former building during a storm.

The new building includes a main sports hall as well as a smaller hall for sports and junior assemblies, changing facilities and offices, the main spaces benefitting from natural ventilation via wind turrets

It was built on the footprint of the existing building, utilising the existing concrete floor. The main hall provides facilities for all indoor sport, particularly cricket and was opened by Michael Atherton, after whom it is named.
